The Population of Surabaya

Many people live in Surabaya. They come from many place in Indonesia or in the world. There are many religon in Surabaya to. So, Surabaya is the city of many population. Depend on Sensus in 2010, Surabaya have 2.765.908 population. With the 333,063 km². 

Ethnic javanese is the most population in Surabaya city. Compared with the javanese generally, the ethnic javanese in Surabaya have the harder temprament. One cause is the far distance of Surabaya from the kraton which think is the central of java culture.

Although ethnic javanese is the biggest, but Surabaya have some other ethnic from Indonesia and other country like Madura, Batak, Bali, Bugis, Manado, Dayak, Toraja, Tionghoa, Arabian, etc.

The most religion in Surabaya is Islam. Surabaya is one of the central of Islam development. Masjid Ampel is build on 15 century by Sunan Ampel, one of the Wali Songo pioneer. The other religion in Surabaya is Kristen Protestan, Katolik, Hindu, Buddha and Konghucu.

Surabaya have typical java language which knowing is Suroboyoan. This typical dialecis use in Surabaya and around and have the influence in east side of east java province.
